Week ONE

With the lack of a Penny/Sada style nutter in the house, it was hard to nominate this week, where as a shock for the housemates, the public nominate their two least favourite housemates for eviction. On the Friday of week 1, the housemates were told of this plan, and then had to vote off one of the nominees, voted as Jade and Lynne by the public. We liked the surprise of this, but it seemed quite an unnecessarily harsh way to break the new housemates into the nomination process.

From seeing his abysmal audition tape, we couldn't stand Lee, arrogant and very self-important. Completely uninteresting, Lee acted the 'man' but showed his pathetic grip on life by failing/pretending not to realise the Queen Mother had died. Or even existed for that matter. His disregard for other housemates by eating a large share of the food, combined with his 'swooping hawk' kisses and constant presence in the girls room, made him a prime eviction candidate.

Then again there's Jade.
It's hard to say much about Jade, mainly because it's so hard to speak when she's around, booming off her mouth to anyone within earshot (about 5 miles). She did make it easy to leave the E4 live coverage, but repeating everything you say (I mean, if I don't like someone, I don't like em and I don't really wanna talk to em cos I don't like em - you get the idea) just drove us mad. As one RI:SE viewer noted - 'Helen Adams (BB2) without the charm'.
And 'sparagus' is asparagus, a vegetable Jade.

We had to eat our words though, because as the days went on, we warmed to Jade and found other, much more annoying housemates in the shape of PJ and Spencer. We're aware that somehow the dirty Spencer has a massive female following (how?) but Spencer's laziness and 'cocksure' attitude annoyed the hell out of us, but PJ drove us insane with his constant ramblings about who he thought fancied him. Only one answer there PJ - yourself. We almost punched the screen on eviction night when he was rather too pleased to see Lynne go.

Once we knew Lynne was up for eviction, she was the obvious choice to go, having been too intelligent to stay. It worried us here at babyBROTHER that the first two people to leave, one voluntarily were the student and the barrister - the two most intelligent in the house. We're not saying everyone's stupid, but we like brains. Sunita was fed up with the 'pantomime aspect' of the house and Lynne was (seemingly) too normal to stay with the rest of the wannabe housemates.

So all in all, our week one verdict? We've so much to say it's quite hard. We're a bit disappointed by the housemates themselves - in a way they've done too much too quickly to come across as genuine people. This is reflected in Sunita's decision to leave so early on. Our early preconceptions of Lee and Jade were a bit unfounded, and we now have a real thing about PJ. But it will probably change again. We like the new studio and house, and even if the quiz was the crappest task ever - it made the most boring viewing yet on BB - we think there's a lot to come. At least we hope so.

The housemates entered the house to a wave of technical difficulty. Big Brother's voice and the control room could be heard in the house, and when Jade went to the Diary Room (lucky Big Brother eh?!) she didn't seem to realise that Big Brother wasn't replying, but kept nattering on. And on. But the rest of the housemates could hear Big Brother talking to Jade, now locked in the Diary Room. So whilst the wiring was fixed up, the housemates were relegated to that old favourite - the girl's bedroom. Other technical disasters included the wrong shopping being delivered (will BB EVER get it right?) and the freezer getting switched off.

Sex was a prevalent thought in the girls' minds during Week One, with Lee being Adele's favourite, and both admitted they'd 'get in there' if they didn't have partners. Alex, disturbingly skinny, was the favourite of all the girls, Alison proclaiming him 'stunning', and Jade and Kate remarking with glee at the size of his manhood. For Alex who quite liked Kate, Alison's club rep game of sexual positions was a late-night treasure.

Then again, it kept changing. Kate liked Spencer by the end of the week, whilst egomaniac PJ now decided that Alex fancied him (after Jade, Kate and Lynne already had of course). Lee and Adele confessed they fancied each other, and as Lee's girlfriend was climbing the wall at home, Adele then told Lee she is a virgin and also has a girlfriend! So confusing!

After a fun filled week, what with Lee's birthday and the initial excitement, things came down a little following Sunita's decision to leave the 'pantomime house' and Lynne's surprise eviction. Whilst Sunita left and that seemed to be it, goodbye, both inside and outside the house (the barrister didn't even get to met Davina for cyring out loud!), Lynne left to hurtful banners and boos, all because she told Spencer he was cocky! Which he is!
