In a babyBROTHER view story, we examine the new 'live' task idea.
Here at babyBROTHER, we've been saying for weeks that the tasks the housemates receive once a week are boring. We even ran a campaign, which seemed to work by getting the housemates more mini-tasks, but we want to take a close look at the Saturday tasks, to ask the question, do they really work?
Here are the main tasks, from week one to the present:
Is it just us or does that list look quite uninspiring? Two quizzes, two hand-eye co-ordination tests, a toddler's party game and a blatant non-task. Is it any wonder the housemates complain about having to wait for Saturday evenings to come around when all they get is this? We understand that a lot of the tasks had to be designed so that that the rich/poor sides could be chosen but the tasks themselves are so boring to watch. Watching darts being thrown or people play musical chairs just doesn't make exciting live television. And the housemates get little out of it either - they are just bored all week with nothing to do.
In the past we've had assault courses, a First-Aid emergency, photocopy-sculptures, record-breaking and podium-dancing. They were fun to watch and the housemates had something to do.
Go back to weekly tasks next year BB, these 'live shows' aren't live (10 minute delay) and aren't shows - cos nowt happens. To be honest the very un-camerashy chickens)go on, watch them - they walk up to and look at the camera!) can be more interesting. Back to the drawing board...
